ENNIS, Texas – A last minute change of venue proved to be no problem for the 14th-ranked University of Texas at Tyler men’s tennis team, as they topped Linfield (Ore.), 6-3, on Friday afternoon at the Lion Tennis Center in Ennis.

The match was moved to the Tennis Center’s indoor courts in anticipation of inclement weather.

The Patriots (11-3) started the match by taking all three doubles points from Linfield (10-5).

In singles action, senior Dustin Phillips (Houston, Texas), sophomore Robert Sajovich (Austin, Texas) and junior David Ashlock (Arlington, Texas) each won their respective match in straight sets to help clinch the win for the Patriots.

With the win, UT Tyler is now 9-1 on the season against West region opponents.

On Sunday, both Patriot tennis squads will return to the Summers Tennis Center for an American Southwest Conference matchup with Mississippi College. Before the match, seniors from both UT Tyler teams will be honored. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
