The University of Texas at Tyler men’s and women’s teams tennis teams swept Mississippi College with identical 9-0 scores on Sunday at the Summers Tennis Center in American Southwest Conference action.

The win gave the women (11-6, 4-0 ASC) at least a share of their fourth consecutive ASC East title. The Patriots can earn the title outright with a win at Ozarks on April 9.

In the men’s match, the Patriots won all but two matches in straight sets and advanced to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the ASC with the win.

The two Patriot seniors on the men’s team each ended their senior day with wins. Dustin Phillips (Houston, Texas) picked up victories at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, while Jordan Repsher (Friendswood, Texas) won his match at No. 2 doubles.

On the women’s side, UT Tyler won all nine points via straight sets and is now just one win away from wrapping up a No. 1 seed in next month’s ASC Tournament.

The lone senior on the women’s team, Beth Launius (LaGrange, Texas), won both of her matches in her Summers Tennis Center finale. Launius picked up wins at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

On Wednesday, the men will look to clinch a share of their own East Division title when they host Texas-Dallas at 3 p.m., at the Summers Tennis Center.
