Chestnut Hill, Mass - The Boston College men's tennis picked up two victories in four matches over the weekend, winning two non-conference match-ups against Holy Cross and the University of Portland and losing to ACC opponents North Carolina State and Wake Forest.

In Friday's afternoon matches with Holy Cross and NC State, the Eagles lost the matinee to the Wolfpack by a close 4-3 margin. NC State took four of six singles matches to hold onto the win. The Eagles picked up wins in the singles column from No. 3 and No. 4 positions from freshman Akash Muppidi and Alex Skinner. Muppidi rallied to defeat his opponent in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 7-6) after dropping the second set. Skinner picked up a win in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).

BC also picked up the doubles point with wins from Thomas Nolan and Erik Kruetzer in the No. 1 position and Adam Davison and Muppidi in the No. 3 position.

In the night match against cross-state rival Holy Cross the Eagles picked up a 7-0 victory over the Crusaders.

Freshman Rob Ankner picked up his first collegiate win against Holy Cross with a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 4 position.

On Sunday the Eagles picked up a win in the morning match against the University of Portland with a 4-3 victory over the Pilots and then traveled to Brown for an ACC match-up with Wake Forest University losing 4-0 to the Demon Deacons.

The match was called early but at the time the No. 1 through 4 singles matches had been decided with Wake sweeping the top four spots for the win.

The Eagles travel to North Carolina this weekend, with two ACC matches in the books. BC will take on Duke on Friday March 27 at 3 p.m. in Durham and North Carolina on Saturday in Chapel Hill.
