FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. - The Marist men's tennis team has reached their 10th consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship match after a 4-0 win over Saint Peter's on Saturday at the USTA National Tennis Center. Marist shutout Saint Peter's for the second time this season. Sophomores Marcus von Nordheim (Munich, Germany) and Landon Greene (Palos Verde, Calif.) and freshman Matt Himmelsbach (Longmeadow, Mass.) won at fourth, fifth and sixth singles respectively.

Von Nordheim earned the point at fourth singles over Peter Czajka, 6-1, 6-1 to improve to 5-1 against MAAC foes this season.

Greene took his fifth straight decision as he won at fifth singles. His counterpart from Saint Peter's was Jake Baranowski, 6-2, 6-0. Himmelsbach beat Chris Frakes by the same score at sixth singles. Himmelsbach has not lost to a MAAC opponent in singles in his young career, a perfect 8-0.

Marist took two out of three matches in the doubles. At third doubles, Greene and Nicolas Pisecky (Lausanne, Switzerland) pulled out an 8-5 victory over Baranowski and Czajka. After the Red Foxes dropped the first doubles match, Marist rebounded to take the second doubles spot, 8-6.

The Red Foxes will play in the championship match on Sunday at noon against the top-seeded Fairfield Stags. Fairfield got to the finals behind a 4-1 semifinal victory over Niagara.
