COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team drew out record crowds to the Ohio State Varsity Tennis Center and the Stickney Tennis Center in 2009, ranking sixth nationally in total attendance with 1,560 fans, while ranking eighth in average attendance with 130 fans per match.

The high-water mark for the season came Feb. 28 against Penn State in the Big Ten opener, when 240 Buckeye fans showed out to see Ohio State shut down the Nittany Lions, 6-1. The mark was an all-time high for a Buckeye women’s tennis match, who moved in to the spacious Ohio State Varsity Tennis Center in 2008.
