COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The University of San Diego's sophomore men's tennis player Dean Jackson (Soest, Germany), currently ranked 52nd in the latest Campbell's ITA Tennis Rankings, upset 25th-ranked Justin Kronauge (Dayton, OH) of 3rd-ranked Ohio State University, in the first round singles action (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) at the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships.

Jackson grabbed the early momentum by capturing the first set 6-4, but Kronauge, who reached the NCAA quarterfinals last year, would not go away easily, as he captured set two 6-4. However, Jackson would not be denied his first NCAA postseason victory, as he came back to capture set three, 6-4, which advances him on to round two.

Jackson will advance on to the second round to be played on Thursday against Michael Venus from LSU, who is currently ranked seventh in the Campbell's ITA rankings.
