UTEP tennis player Weronika Bloczynska has been rewarded for her outstanding senior season by being named to the All Conference USA second team as voted on the coaches, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

The native of Elblag, Poland, caps her career having garnered all-conference recognition for singles in three straight seasons, which are the second most in program history. Only four-time honoree Tanja Magoc was more distinguished.

“Weronika has worked hard to reach this achievement,” head coach Jamie Campbell said. “She has been recognized by the coaches of Conference USA as a premier tennis player in this league.”

Bloczynska, who was UTEP’s No. 1 player for a fourth straight year, posted a record of 14-2 at No. 1 singles in dual-match play. She burst out of the gates by claiming nine consecutive matches and 12 of the first 13. Included among those triumphs was a defeat of the top player from Big 12 foe Kansas.

Her efforts helped the Orange and Blue achieve a record-setting season. The Miners racked up a school-record-tying 16 victories on the strength of the best single-season winning percentage (.696) ever at the institution. UTEP set a school standard with seven straight wins and compiled the top record at home (9-1) in program annals.
