AUSTIN, Texas – Texas senior Dimitar Kutrovsky and junior Ed Corrie earned berths in the singles finals, and Kutrovsky joined classmate Josh Zavala to reach the doubles finals, as the Longhorns capped a productive day two at the Texas Invitational.

The top-seeded Kutrovsky knocked off UT freshman Vasko Mladenov by a 7-5, 6-4 count in the quarterfinals before eliminating Baylor’s Attila Bucko in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-4.  Corrie opened the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win over UT redshirt freshman Alex Hilliard in the quarterfinals before defeating UT classmate Kellen Damico in the semifinals, 7-6, 6-4.  Kutrovsky and Corrie will battle for the main draw singles title on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Central.

Kutrovsky teamed up with Zavala to eliminate Texas A&M’s Jack Seider and Alberto Bautista from the quarterfinals, 8-4.  The Texas tandem advanced to the doubles finals with an 8-4 semifinal win over Mladenov and UT senior Jon Wiegand.  Redshirt freshman Alex Hilliard and freshman Daniel Whitehead reached the doubles semifinals, where they fell to Rice’s Michael Nusslein and Christian Saravia, 8-3.  Kutrovsky and Zavala will meet Rice’s Nusslein and Saravia in the finals on Sunday at noon.

Texas senior Rook Schellenberg will play in Sunday’s singles consolation finals after defeating Marquette’s Jonathan Schwerin and Lamar’s Marton Horvath.

“Overall, it was a good day, and Ed and Dimi are playing in the singles finals for a third year in a row,” UT head coach Michael Center said.  “Those guys have worked hard and are playing great tennis, so it should be an exciting final tomorrow.  Our freshmen have been doing great.  They have been working really hard, and they have added a lot to our team.  I couldn’t be happier with those guys.”
