WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Jan. 28, 2010)After nearly upsetting No. 20 Louisville a week ago, the ETSU men’s tennis team looks to break through the win column this weekend, as the 62nd-ranked Bucs travel to No. 75 William and Mary for a 5 p.m. contest Friday inside the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Va.

ETSU (0-2) returns to action after falling in its first two dual matches last week. After a near astonishing win at Louisville last Thursday – in which the Bucs fell 4-3 – ETSU struggled two days later in Knoxville as instate-rival and fifth-ranked Tennessee breezed past head coach Yaser Zaatini’s squad 7-0.

Individually, ETSU is led by its No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Sander Gille (Kuringen, Belgium) and freshman Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela). The Buc pair is currently ranked 52nd in the latest ITA poll. Overall, Gille and Bandres lead the Atlantic Sun Conference with four wins this spring.

William and Mary (5-3) welcome the Bucs as they open a six-match homestand. After ripping off four wins in-a-row to start the season, the host Tribe has struggled lately losing their last three-out-of-four contests.

The key for ETSU will be its ability to get off to a quick start. In all five wins the Tribe has picked up the doubles point while going unbeaten at home this spring. In its three loses, William and Mary dropped matches to No. 2 Virginia, No. 30 Norte Dame and No. 47 Northwestern after getting swept at all three positions in doubles.

Individually, senior Keziel Juneau leads the way for W&M. Juneau has been on fire lately as the 118th-ranked letterwinner sits with a 6-2 record, with his best win coming against 18th-ranked Casey Watt of No. 30 Norte Dame.
