CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- The Eastern Illinois women’s tennis squad picked up a nice 5-2 win in Ohio Valley Conference action, downing the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri on Tuesday to improve to 6-10 on the year and 3-4 in league play after winning their second straight match.

Winning two of three doubles, the Panthers would earn the all-important duo point and then proceed to win four of six singles to gut out the win.

Shannon Brooks, Juliana Frey, and Annie Egan each defeated their respective opponent in straight sets at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles, while Merritt Whitley would battle back from a first set loss to earn a nice win at No. 4.

Amanda Dibbs dropped a tight three-set affair at the second spot, while Cara Huck lost at the top of the lineup as SEMO earned just two points in the match.
