MURRAY, Ky. -- The Eastern Illinois men's tennis squad dropped their Ohio Valley Conference match at Murray State on Saturday, as the Panther men lost a tough 4-3 game.
Doubles play ultimately determined the men’s result as the Racers took the all-important point off three consecutive duo matchups. In singles, both squads picked up three wins apiece.
Senior Jeff Rutherford, who will play in his final home match tomorrow versus Austin Peay, battled back after losing the opening set at the top of the lineup.
Justin Haag and Michael Sperry won in straight sets at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively. Warren Race, meanwhile dropped a very close three-set affair at No. 3.
