BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2010) - NYIT women's tennis closed out its conference schedule with an 8-1 loss at C.W. Post. The Bears' lone point was earned by sophomore Kelly Duarte (Westbury, N.Y.) at the No. 5 single spot.
Duarte defeated Kristen Hetiler in a tiebreaker 7-1. She won the first set 8-6, but fell 6-3 in the second set. Senior Amanda Szollosi (East Northport, N.Y.) put up a solid fight at the No. 6 single spot but eventually fell 6-2, 7-5 to Dorine Sousa.
The Bears will close out its inaugural season on Wednesday, Oct. 20 against Dowling in a non-conference make-up match. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the NYIT Tennis Complex.
