OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2010) – NYIT women’s tennis faced another tough loss Tuesday afternoon at the NYIT Tennis Complex. The Bears were swept 9-0 by the Pioneers of neighboring C.W. Post. With the loss, NYIT dropped to 0-5 overall.

C.W. Post swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles action.

No. 1-4 and No. 6 singles were defeated in straight sets. Yet, senior Alexis Beaumont did earn six game wins for a final score of 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 spot. In No. 5 singles action, senior Sarah Vivonetto earned her first set win of the season before falling in three sets 6-2, 2-6, and 6-3.

The Bears return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 22 against the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the NYIT Tennis Complex. The last time these two teams met, the Spartans posted a 9-0 victory but the Bears produced their most game wins of the season.
