PRE-TOURNAMENT COMMENTS
Texas head coach Michael Center
Thoughts on the team’s preseason workouts
“This team does not have the proven All-Americans returning that we’ve had last the several years.  Everybody here feels like they have a shot.  Everyone is working extremely hard and showing what they can do.  They’ve been working hard in their individual lessons, playing a lot of tennis, and they have been working hard in the weight room.  The work ethic and attitude have been as good as we had hoped for.”

On the two tournaments this weekend
“At Midland (Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational), there will be players from teams like Texas Tech, Tulsa, Texas A&M and ourselves, though I have not seen the entire draws.  It’s always a strong field in Midland.  In Chicago, we’ll have Kentucky, Notre Dame, Illinois and Alabama.  We will get tested, and these will be great tournaments to get the fall season kicked off.”
