UT junior Daniel Whitehead falls one win shy of reaching the main singles draw.

TULSA, Okla. – Texas junior Daniel Whitehead was eliminated from the singles qualifying draw, and sophomore David Holiner and freshman Soren Hess-Olesen were unable to stave off elimination from the doubles qualifying draw Wednesday on day five of the ITA All-American Championships, one of three national championship events on the college tennis calendar.

Whitehead needed one more singles win to earn his first berth in the main draw of a national championship event, but he suffered a 6-0, 6-2 defeat to Oklahoma’s Peerakit Siributwong in his final qualifying-round match.

Hess-Olesen and Holiner entered the day needing two wins to advance to the main doubles draw.  The duo suffered an 8-5 defeat to Texas A&M’s Colin Hoover and Alexis Klegou in the qualifying draw’s round of 32.

Texas resumes fall tournament play on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the ITA Texas Regional Championships in College Station.
