GREENSBORO, N.C. – Miami senior Gabriela Mejia has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. The Cali, Colombia, native defeated the nation’s No. 13 player in singles and was part of a win over the 37th-ranked doubles team as the Hurricanes defeated 10th-ranked Baylor and 21st-ranked Yale by 6-1 scores.

Mejia went 2-0 in singles play, toppling No. 13 Diana Nakic of Baylor in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) and taking down Yale’s Hannah Yu 6-1, 6-2.  In doubles, Mejia teamed up with Lina Lilekite to beat Baylor’s Diana Nakic and Sona Novakova 8-4, and then upset Yale’s 37th-ranked Elizabeth Epstein and Annie Sullivan, 8-3.  Those victories improved her singles record at 8-1 Mejia and Lilekite maintained their undefeated doubles status with a record of 11-0.  Miami’s pair of 6-1 triumphs against Baylor and Yale improved its record for the season to 10-1.
