SEATTLE – While he had his mind on other matters today, such as starting at No. 1 singles in Washington’s NCAA Championships first round win over North Carolina State, junior Kyle McMorrow will at some point be happy to learn he was voted to the All-Pac-12 Men’s Tennis First Team for the second straight year.

The All-Pac-12 Team is comprised of a six-person first team, a six-person second team (seven this year due to a tie), and honorable mentions. Voting is done by the Pac-12 head coaches.

McMorrow, a native of Thousand Oaks, Calif., is just the third Husky with multiple All-Pac-12 First Team selections, joining Alex Vlaski and Alex Slovic, who each made three First Teams.

This season McMorrow has been ranked in the Top-25 in singles in every Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. He has 10 wins this year over ranked opponents and his 22-11 singles record leads the team. McMorrow, the 2010 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, has gone 16-7 this year at No. 1 singles against a very difficult schedule.

In the yearly awards, USC senior Steve Johnson was named the Pac-12 Men’s Tennis Singles Player of the Year, USC’s Johnson and Roberto Quiroz earned Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year, USC’s Yannick Hanfmann was voted Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year, and USC’s Peter Smith and UCLA’s Billy Martin were named Pac-12 Co-Coach of the Year.
