CARY, N.C. - The Bowdoin men's tennis pairing of Oscar Pena and Samuel King were knocked off in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship on Thursday afternoon.

The Polar Bears lost a tough, three-set battle to Mark Bloom/Patrick Lipscomb of the University of Redlands, 7-6 (8), 3-6, 6-4, in the Round of 16.

Pena and King finish an outstanding year with an 18- 7 record this season and garnered First Team All-NESCAC recognition for their performance. Most recently, they went 3-0 in Bowdoin's NCAA Tournament run that saw the Polar Bears reach the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Last spring, Pena teamed with then-senior Stephen Sullivan to win the Division III Doubles Championship for the first-ever NCAA individual crown in school history.
