COLUMBUS, Ohio - Melissa Schaub, Ohio State women’s tennis interim head coach, announced the program’s 2012-13 schedule Wednesday. The Buckeyes, who ended 2012 slotted No. 59 in the ITA rankings, will host a fall tournament as well as 10 regular-season dual matches during the campaign. The spring slate includes 12 teams that ended last season ranked in the ITA Top 60 and the squad could face three more in its second trip to the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic Tournament in Alabama.

“We have some tough nonconference matches again this year,” Schaub said. “Tennessee, Arkansas, Tulsa and Kentucky always have strong teams and the Blue Gray tournament will add a few more tough matchups. The team had a great offseason; combining that with the non-conference slate will help us get ready for the Big Ten schedule.”

Ohio State opens the fall season hosting the Muirfield Collegiate Tennis Invitational at The Country Club at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio, for the second-consecutive year. The three-day tournament will be held Sept. 14-16, with the doubles semifinals scheduled to be played under the lights Saturday evening and the doubles final (10 a.m.), singles semifinals (11:30 a.m.) and singles final (2 p.m.) Sunday.

After the ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Sept. 29-Oct. 7, the Buckeyes will head to Champaign, Ill., for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships Oct. 18-22, followed by the Tennessee Fall Invite Oct. 26-28 in Knoxville, Tenn. November includes the National Team Indoors in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. and the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.

After opening the dual match season Jan. 19 at West Virginia, Ohio State will host five-consecutive matches, beginning with a doubleheader vs. Toledo and Cincinnati Jan. 23 and a match vs. Eastern Kentucky Jan. 29. Big Ten season commences Feb. 2 vs. Nebraska and Ohio State will then host Kentucky Feb. 12. The next three matches will be on the road, starting with a match at Tennessee Feb. 17. The squad will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., Feb. 23-24 for matches with Arkansas and Tulsa.

March opens with a Big Ten Conference match vs. Penn State before Ohio State travels to Montgomery, Ala., to participate in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Tournament for the second time. Joining the Buckeyes in the tourney will be Pepperdine, Virginia, Boise State, Marshall, Michigan State, SMU and Yale. Match-ups have not yet been announced.

Nine conference matches close the dual-match slate. Ohio State will play four of the first five matches on the road, traveling to Indiana and Purdue March 22 and 24, respectively, before hosting Iowa March 31. After matches at Wisconsin (April 5) and Minnesota (April 7), the Buckeyes will take on Illinois (April 12) and Northwestern (April 14) in Columbus.

The final weekend has the Buckeyes traveling to Michigan State April 19 before ending the home slate vs. Michigan April 21. Indiana will host the Big Ten Tournament April 25-28 in Bloomington, Ind.
