PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Columbia women's tennis players Bianca Sanon and Tiana Takenaga completed the first round of the pre-qualifying draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Saturday. Sanon fell in the singles draw, while the pair dropped a close match in doubles.

Takenaga and Sanon played the closest opening round match of the doubles draw against Jen Pfeifler and Jackie Kasler from Auburn. The Southeastern Conference duo though, edged out Columbia's tandem, 9-8(3), to advance.

Sanon went up against Ema Burgic from Baylor in the opening round of singles action with Burgic securing a 6-1, 6-0 win.

Columbia has one women's tennis player still in contention out west in Nicole Bartnik. The senior will begin action in the main draw Oct. 4.
