WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William and Mary men's tennis senior Jamie Whiteford will compete in the main draw of the 64-player ITA All-American Championships, beginning on Thursday, Oct. 4. Whiteford, who is the first W&M singles player since 2004 to be an at-large selection to the first national collegiate championship of the season, will open competition against Memphis' Joe Salisbury at 9 a.m. on Thursday. The University of Tulsa is the host of the ITA American Championship at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Whiteford, who is ranked No. 43 nationally in the fall Campbell's ITA Rankings, will face Salisbury in the first round of the All-American Championships. Salisbury is on a roll after winning three straight matches in the prequalifying flight and then three more in the qualifying bracket to advance to the main draw.

The winner of the Whiteford-Salisbury will advance to a 12:30 p.m. second-round tilt against the victor between No. 12-ranked Anthony Rossi of Kentucky and Ohio State's No. 35-ranked Peter Kobelt on Thursday. The singles round of 16 will be on Friday, Oct. 5, with the quarterfinals and semifinals slated for Saturday, Oct. 6. The ITA All-American Championship match will be on Sunday, Oct. 7.

Whiteford, who went 1-1 at the fall-opening Duke Fab Four Invitational, is the first Tribe player to compete in the main draw of the ITA All-American Championship since Alex Cojanu and Keziel Juneau in 2007. The Tribe duo upset the No. 2-ranked team in the country from Stanford on the way to the round of 16 in the doubles draw. The last Tribe player to compete in the main singles draw at the All-American Championships was Jeff Kader, who was ranked No. 26 nationally, in 2004.
