THE FLATS - Senior Juan Spir and sophomore Eduardo Segura will represent Georgia Tech is the ITA All-American Championships, beginning today in Tulsa, Okla. Spir is seeded 11th in the main draw of singles, and will team up with Segura in the main draw of doubles. The tournament takes place at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa. 

Meanwhile, the rest of the Yellow Jackets will play in the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, which begins Friday and runs through Sunday.

Spir, a two-time All-American in doubles and ranked among the nation’s top 20 singles players, takes on Andre Dome of Cal Poly at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time Thursday. The main draw of singles includes 64 players, competing for the title that will be decided on Sunday. Spir, a senior from Medellin, Colombia, is 3-1 this fall, having advanced to the quarterfinals of the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga., in September.

Spir and Segura, a sophomore from Madrid, spain, are seeded fifth in the doubles draw, which includes 32 teams. They face Sudanwa Sitaram and Daniel Whitehead of Texas, who made the draw through four qualifying rounds, Thursday evening. The Tech duo is 1-1 this fall.

The Bulldog Invitational is a round-robin event featuring players from five schools: Armstrong Atlantic, East Tennessee State, Furman, Georgia and Tech. On Friday and Saturday, play will begin at 9 a.m. with doubles followed immediately by a round of singles. Then after a lunch break, a final round of singles will take place at 2 p.m. Play begins Sunday at 9 a.m. with doubles followed by singles.

Vikram Hundal, a sophomore from Alpharetta, Ga., and freshmen Garrett Gordon and Nathan Rakitt, both from Marietta, Ga., each won two matches in the SIC and have played well in the early going. Gordon and Hundal teamed up to win a pair of doubles matches in the Division II draw of the SIC as well.
