Women’s Tennis Set to Compete at the USTA College Invitational

NEW YORK - The Columbia women's tennis team will be in action this weekend at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center as part of the USTA Women's College Invitational in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.

The USTA BJK NTC Women's College Invitational represents the third tournament of the fall season for Columbia. The Lions hosted the Columbia Invitational Sept. 14-16, winning two singles and two doubles flights at the event. Nicole Bartnik, currently competing in the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, and Kanika Vaidya each won their singles flight, while the doubles teams of Bianca Sanon and Tiana Takenaga, as well as Katarina Kovacevic and Vaidya won their respective flights.

The next weekend, Vaidya went on to capture the singles A flight title at the Cissie Leary Invitational at Penn.

Action begins tomorrow at the National Tennis Center and continues through Sunday.
