PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Alexa Guarachi and Mary Anne Macfarlane posted a pair of dominating wins on Thursday at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships to advance to the quarterfinals of the main draw.
The Crimson Tide duo first took down Southern California’s Gabriella DeSimone and Zoe Scandalis, 8-2, before winning five of the last six games to knock off the nation’s eighth-ranked team in Natalie Beazant and Dominique Harmath of Rice, 8-3.
Macfarlane also played in her first singles match of the tournament, falling to Stanford’s Krista Hardebeck, 6-3, 6-3.
Match play resumes on Friday where both Guarachi and Macfarlane will play in their respective singles consolation draws, while the pair will also play in their next doubles match.
