WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's tennis team will compete in its third fall tournament at the USTA Pro Circuit's Futures of Mansfield event at the Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, Texas from Oct. 13-21.

"It's a great chance to get some good matches in," head coach Matt Knoll said. "The level of competition is high. There will be a lot of good players there. It's just a good chance to get some experience."

Baylor has five players eligible to play, but only three are currently slated to compete. Mate Zsiga and Robert Verzaal will open play for the Bears in the 64-man qualifying singles draw on Saturday morning. Zsiga, ranked No. 7 by the ITA, is coming into the tournament off his first loss of the season at the ITA All-American. He is 7-1 this fall, while Verzaal comes in with a 3-2 record.

Sophomores Marko Krickovic and Robbie Korth are currently listed as alternates for the singles qualifying draw.

Freshman Julian Lenz, 5-2 this fall, received a spot in the singles main draw by winning a wild card tournament played last week.

"(Julian) won a wild card tournament last week," said Knoll. "The future is very bright for him. It's great that he gets to be a part of the main draw, and hopefully he can roll it out."

In the main draw of the doubles tournament, Lenz and Verzaal will make their debut as a team beginning Tuesday. The tandem won the wild card tournament earlier this week to break their way into the main draw. Verzaal has been very successful so far this season partnered up with teammate Marko Krickovic with a fall record of 9-3 and a second-place finish at the Baylor HEB Intercollegiate.

"Robert has had some good results in doubles," Knoll said. "He and Julian are actually playing doubles in the main draw tournament. They won a wild card, and are excited to play."

Singles qualifying will Saturday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. Both the singles and doubles main draw will start Tuesday, Oct. 16.
