HOUSTON - For the second consecutive year, University of Houston women's tennis head coach Patrick Sullivan was named the recipient of the 2012 USTA Multicultural Grant as announced by the United State Tennis Association (USTA), the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and the ad-hoc USTA Multicultural Grant Selection Panel.

The grant is provided to send Sullivan to the 2012 ITA Coaches Convention held at the Waldorf Astoria Naples (Fla.) on December 15-18, 2012, which promotes professional growth and educational opportunities to coaches and players and encourages diversity. In addition to being a grant recipient, Sullivan will be featured on the both ITA and USTA websites.

Sullivan, who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was hired at Houston on June 6, 2012, and is viewed as one of the top up-and-coming coaches in the country after turning around the women's tennis program at Stephen F. Austin, where he totaled a 43-10 (.811) record in two seasons, including the first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament and a national ranking of No. 35.

The Cougars have competed in seven tournaments during the 2012 fall season, claiming four individual flight titles, and will wrap up tournament play at home at the Cougar Fall Open on Nov. 2-4 at John E. Hoff Courts.
