The University of Florida’s Caroline Hitmana dropped a tough 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 decision in the singles final at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic in Lakewood, Fla., on Sunday.

The Gator senior advanced to the championship match after defeating freshman teammate Brianna Morgan, 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 in the semifinal on Sunday morning before facing Memphis’ Liza Tymchenko.

Tymchenko reached the final after topping UF junior Alexandra Cercone, 2-6, 6-2, 6-0.

On the doubles court, Cercone and Morgan paired in the final and lost to Memphis’ Collins and Gray, 8-3.

The weekend marked the last tournament of the fall season for the Gators, who return to action in January.
