DHARWAD, India - Former Virginia men's tennis player Michael Shabaz (Class of 2011) won his first career professional doubles title, winning the championship at this week's India Futures event. Shabaz teamed with former Memphis standout Amrit Narasimhan and the unseeded duo won four matches, three in straight sets, to win the championship.
It is Shabaz's second career title, as he won a singles title on the Futures Tour in Guatemala in February.
Also in Dharwad, former Cavalier Sanam Singh (Class of 2011) is in the singles final of the tournament. Singh, who won last week's India Futures event, will look for his fifth Futures title of the year in Saturday's final.
Singh and Shabaz, along with Ted Angelinos (Class of 2008), will all be in action in next week's India Futures event.
