SAN DIEGO, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara's Kiersten Meehan battled through two victories on Thursday, advancing to the Round of 32 at the USTA/ITA Regional Championship in San Diego, but on Friday, she dropped her third round match to Katarina Poljakova of Hawai'i, 6-0, 6-1.

Meehan was the only UCSB player to advance into the Round of 32 at the tournament held at San Diego State.  On Saturday, she will meet Anna Yang of Cal State Northridge in consolation play.

Several other Gauchos will play in Saturday's consolation matches.  Erica Cano will take-on UC Irvine's Sara Gong, Stacy Yam will play Kat Facey of UC Irvine and April Scatliffe plays Hawai'i's Kelsey Daguio.

The second round of the doubles was played on Friday.  On Thursday, all three Gaucho doubles tandems had byes and on Friday, they were all beaten in the second round.

Cano and Yam lost an 8-1 decision to Anna Depenau and Alexandra Victorsson of the University of San Diego.  Meehan and Paola Cos played a tough match, but lost to Kaitlin Ray and Holly Flemming of UCLA, 8-5.  Finally, Scatliffe and Priscilla Garcia were beaten by Leighann Sahagun and Stephanie Vlad of Arizona State, 8-3.
