College Tennis News - Tennis Announces 2013 Spring Schedule

Shaun Chaudhuri, who boasted a 30-9 overall singles record between tournament and dual matches his freshman season, has returned to the court for the Crimson and is off to a 6-3 start this fall (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Fresh off the program's first NCAA appearance since 2008 and 29th Ivy League title, the Harvard men's tennis team has released its 2013 spring schedule, which includes eight home events.

"Many have predicted that we are entering another Golden Age of Ivy League tennis, and it is easy to see why," The Scott Mead '77 Head Coach for Men's Tennis Dave Fish said. "The 2012-13 season looks like it will be extraordinarily competitive—a fitting follow-up to last year's nail biting race. Our team has been busy this fall, working well together and individually. If they continue to work at it, we will be in a position to compete with any team in the league for top honors."

The Crimson opens the 2013 slate by hosting Boston College, Marist and Fordham in the Harvard Winter Invite Jan. 18-20. The team then hits the road for two weekends, beginning with the ITA Kick-Off in Oklahoma, where it will face Notre Dame (Jan. 25) and Oklahoma or Memphis (Jan. 26). Harvard finishes its road trip with a pair of dual matches in Flushing, N.Y. against Alabama and St. John's Feb. 1 and Feb. 2, respectively.

The Crimson returns home for a match with Old Dominion Feb. 3 at 2:30 p.m. at the Murr Center before heading to Ithaca, N.Y., in search of its second-straight ECAC team championship Feb. 15-18. Harvard went 4-0 in singles competition and bested three Ivy League foes in four days in 2012 to claim the ECAC team crown. After a two week break, the Crimson will host Indiana (March 2), Louisville (March 3) and Boston University (March 3) in a weekend homestand.

Following a trip to La Jolla Calif., for the Mission Valley Spring Classic, Harvard begins Ancient Eight play at home against Columbia, the one blemish on its 6-1 conference record in 2012, April 6 at 2 p.m. and Cornell April 7 at 2 p.m. The Crimson competes in its final home match of the year April 19 at 2 p.m. versus Brown and concludes its regular season at Yale (April 21) and Dartmouth (April 27).

Harvard wraps up the fall portion of its schedule at the Tribe Invite in Williamsburg, Va., Nov. 9-11.
