NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team returns to the court Sunday at 9 a.m. against Tennessee inside the Eck Tennis Pavilion. Both teams recently competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kick Off Weekend Jan. 26-27 in Lincoln, Neb.

The Irish (3-1), the No. 18 team in the most recent edition of the ITA Women’s College Tennis Rankings, are coming off a 4-1 defeat at the hands of No. 17 Nebraska at the ITA Kick Off Weekend. Freshman Quinn Gleason was the top Notre Dame singles player against the Cornhuskers, earning a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 3 court to account for the Irish point.

Gleason, junior Jennifer Kellner (3-1), senior Chrissie McGaffigan (3-0) and sophomore Molly O'Koniewski (3-0) are tied for the team lead in singles victories through four regular season matches. Kellner and McGaffigan are a perfect 2-0 in doubles play to pace the Irish.

No. 25 Tennessee (0-3) fell at No. 16 Michigan 4-3 Friday afternoon in the first match of its Midwest road trip. The Volunteers won their first doubles point of the season to open the match, only to surrender four consecutive singles contests, giving the Wolverines the team victory.

Notre Dame has won six of its last seven meetings against Tennessee, although the Volunteers own a 14-10 edge in the all-time series. The then No. 24 Irish dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 17 Tennessee on Feb. 3 of last year in Knoxville. Head coach Jay Louderback enters Sunday’s contest with a 9-13 mark against the Volunteers at the helm of Notre Dame.

Live match results will be available here.
