NASHVILLE – Fresh off an appearance in the 2013 ITA National Team Indoor Championship, the 17th-ranked Commodores hit the road for the final time in non-conference play when they travel to Texas for duals at No. 18 Baylor (Feb. 16) and No. 34 TCU (Feb. 17).
 
Last Time Out
 
Vanderbilt (4-3) faced the tough challenge of taking on No. 2 UCLA in the first round of the 2013 ITA National Team Indoor Championship. The Commodores would fall to the Bruins, 4-1, in the first loss of the season. Vanderbilt would then face two Big 10 opponents in consolation matches to round out the weekend in Charlottesville, Va. On Saturday, Vanderbilt took on the No. 17 Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Huskers came out on top in a match that went all the way to the wire, 4-3. The Commodores wrapped up the weekend on Sunday versus No. 16 Michigan. Michigan would win the match, 4-2, sending Vanderbilt back to Nashville without a win.
 
About No. 18 Baylor
 
The Baylor Bears come into the weekend’s dual with a record of 3-4 on the season. Like the Commodores, Baylor is coming off an appearance in the 2013 ITA National Team Indoor Championship. During the championship, the Bears went winless, having lost to No. 3 Duke (4-1), No. 9 Alabama (4-3) and No. 17 Nebraska (4-1). Baylor’s three wins have come against No. 21 Texas Tech, No. 36 Florida State and Sam Houston State. Ema Burgic leads Baylor with a 22-5 record and ranked No. 13 in the latest ITA Singles Rankings. Megan Horter is ranked No. 86 with a record of 11-6. Burgic and Jordaan Sanford team up to lead the Bears in doubles competition and a ranking of No. 41 in the country.
 
About No. 34 TCU
 
The Horned Frogs of TCU are 3-1 on the year with wins over Nicholls State (6-1), Sam Houston State (4-3) and Old Dominion (7-0). Their one loss came against SEC foe Alabama, 4-1. TCU is led by Stefanie Tan, who enters the match ranked No. 50 in the ITA singles rankings. Tan is 2-1 in dual competition this season, playing primarily in the No. 1 spot. Simona Parajova is ranked No. 115 to round out the individual rankings for TCU. Parajova is tied for the team lead with three wins in dual competition. As a team, TCU is 9-1 in doubles competition.
