WACO, Texas - The 29th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will face its highest ranked opponent of the season as the Lady Bears travel to take on No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday at noon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Overall, BU is 4-9 on the season and has lost nine of its last 10. Baylor will be looking for its first win on the road this season, after starting 0-5 in that category.

The Lady Bears fell 4-3 on Friday at No. 17 Clemson. In that match, Baylor's three freshmen Victoria Kisialeva, Maria Biryukova and Kiah Generette all picked up singles wins. BU has two ranked singles players in No. 12 Ema Burgic and No. 113 Megan Horter. Burgic teams with Kisialeva to form the country's 23rd-ranked doubles tandem.

The match will be North Carolina's final non-conference match of the season. Carolina is 12-1 after sweeping Winthrop and East Carolina in a doubleheader last Saturday.

Gina Suarez-Malaguti leads seven Tar Heels in the national singles poll at No. 4. Five Carolina singles players are undefeated in dual match play, with No. 25 Caroline Price leading the way with an 11-0 mark. No. 19 Whitney Kay (8-0), No. 101 Ashley Dai (7-0), Kate Vialle (4-0) and Laura Slater (3-0) are also perfect this spring.

Baylor is 3-1 all-time against UNC, having won the last three meetings by identical 4-3 scores. Last season, BU took care of the Tar Heels by the one-point margin on Feb. 11, 2012.

Following the match at UNC, Baylor returns home to host No. 47 Virginia on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
