DURHAM, N.C. - Duke women's tennis head coach Jamie Ashworth announced Tuesday the addition of senior Nicole Lipp to the team. Lipp, a four-year letterwinner for the Duke women's soccer team, is set to compete for the Blue Devils as they open conference play Saturday, March 23rd against N.C. State.

"We are excited that Nicole has decided to join our team as we begin conference play this weekend," Ashworth said. "She has worked hard these last few weeks on the court and will be a welcome addition to our program.  I know from our standpoint we are grateful to Nicole for stepping in and wanting to be a part of our program.  Our current team members know her well and are looking forward to having her as a part of the Duke tennis family."

A native of Lake Forest, Ill., started 85 of 90 matches in the midfield for the Duke soccer team, scoring five goals and notching 12 assists during her four years which were highlighted by a trip to the NCAA College Cup in 2011. Lipp was a NCAA College Cup All-Tournament team selection in 2011 as she tallied four assists during Duke's run to the national championship match.  She helped lead Duke to 56 victories over her four years.

Lipp joins the tennis program after playing four years at Lake Forest High School, competing in the top position for her team in both singles and doubles and garnering all-state, all-conference and all-academic accolades. Lipp was ranked nationally in the United States Tennis Association's polls starting at the age of 12.

The Blue Devils are next slated to take on N.C. State in Raleigh, N.C. on Saturday, March 23rd at 12 p.m.
