SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The University of Oklahoma claimed the doubles point and then just kept rolling in a 7-0 women's tennis win over UC Santa Barbara on Sunday.

The Sooners' No. 1 doubles team of Hermon Brhane and Whitney Ritchie defeated UCSB's Paola Cos and Priscilla Garcia, 8-3, and their No. 3 team of Emma Devine and Mia Lancaster topped Erica Cano and Stacey Yam, 8-4 to give them a 1-0 lead.

The only Gaucho singles player to claim a set over her Oklahoma opponent was Garcia.  Playing No. 4, she dropped a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 decision to Whitney Wofford.  At No. 5, Yam played a couple of tough sets, but dropped a 6-3, 6-4 match  to Abbi Melrose and at No. 6, Erica Cano fell 6-1, 6-4 to Devine.

"Oklahoma outplayed us today in all areas," said UCSB head coach Simon Thibodeau.  "We will learn from this tough match and act on it in Hawaii."

The Gauchos return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 27 when they travel to the University of Hawaii for a Big West match against the Rainbow Wahine.
