AUBURN – No. 21 Auburn women’s tennis will travel to Berkeley, California for the first and second rounds of NCAA Tournament beginning on Friday, May 10 against 40th-ranked St. Mary’s. The bracket was announced by the NCAA on Tuesday.

The Tigers (18-8) are returning to NCAA competition for the first time since 2009 and making the program’s seventh appearance all-time. Auburn was ranked 21st in the most recent ITA rankings on April 23.

“I’m excited for our program. I think is a truly great opportunity,” Auburn women’s tennis head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. “I think the girls are excited to play teams that we haven’t seen before and to get out and have a nice trip to California. We’ve been in our SEC bubble for a while, so it’s nice to be able to take our whole team to California in a different environment. All four teams are obviously tough and respected teams, but if we play our game, we will have a chance to be successful.”

Host No. 7 California faces Stony Brook in the regional’s other first round match at Hellman Tennis Complex on May 10. Auburn has never faced any of the teams in Berkeley regional. The winner of the Auburn-St. Mary’s match advances to face the winner of the Cal-Stony Brook match on Sunday.

The NCAA berth is the first at Auburn for Meisner and the fourth of her coaching career after trips at SMU from 2009-11.
