CORAL GABLES, Fla. –  The University of Miami women’s tennis team holds a 3-0 lead over UNF in the first round of the NCAA Championships. However, Mother Nature didn’t cooperate and the remainder of the match will be delayed due to rain and resumed Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

The match will resume with the scores on Courts 1, 2, 3, and 6 as is.

Before the delay, the Hurricanes claimed the doubles point for the 22nd time this season. Brittany Dubins and Stephanie Wagner remained a perfect 4-0 as a team after a late-season switched paired them together. The duo cruised to an 8-4 win over the UNF combo of Taylor Hollander and Marina Cunningham at No. 3.

Melissa Bolivar and Kelsey Laurente clinched the point with their 8-3 victory on Court No. 2. The win was the 14th doubles victory on the season for the tandem, tying them for the most on the team this season.

Miami’s second point came on Court 5 as Monique Albuquerque overpowered UNF’s Melanie Aguirre, 6-1, 6-0. The win improved the sophomore’s record in her last 10 matches to 8-2.

Freshman Clementina Riobueno gave the Canes a 3-0 edge with her team-leading 23rd win of the season. This time the 102nd-ranked player used a convincing 6-3, 6-1 win over the Osprey’s Hollander.

The match was delayed once previously due to lightning. That delay lasted 58 minutes.
