LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The Anteaters' historic season came to a close Sunday afternoon at Marks Stadium as the fifth-ranked Trojans of USC dropped UCI for the third time this season, 4-0, in the NCAA Second Round matchup.
 
USC (23-2) dispatched the 'Eaters in doubles surrendering just five points in a sweep to earn the doubles point.
 
UC Irvine (23-5) remained resilient in singles nearly taking a few sets. Senior Kristina Smith staved off elimination in the second set with a late rally as she trailed 5-4 when the match ended.
 
Sarah Gong played very well against the Trojans just missing a first-set win, 7-5, and leading 3-2 in the second set as the match ended. Ali Facey also hung tough falling 7-5, 6-4 before relinquishing the clinching point.
 
The 'Eaters' season concludes at 23-5, the most wins in program history, and the five losses tie for the lowest total with the 2007 squad.
