ATHENS, Ga. --- After finishing No. 3 in the final team poll of the 2012-13 season, the Georgia men’s tennis team saw four players end their seasons ranked individually, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced Wednesday afternoon.

Georgia’s trio of freshman Ben Wagland, sophomore Nathan Pasha, and junior Hernus Pieters earned final singles rankings of Nos. 34, 51, and 102, respectively, while the doubles team of Wagland and Pieters remained No. 5 in the nation. Georgia’s duo of Pasha and junior Garrett Brasseaux also end the year ranked in doubles, coming in at No. 17.

Wagland turned in a stellar rookie campaign in which he won 26 singles matches, including an 18-4 record in dual matches, and posted seven wins over ranked opponents. Pasha went 32-15 on the year – leading the squad in victories – and went 8-2 in league play, while Pieters posted an overall mark of 24-12 and needs just 10 more singles wins to eclipse 100 for his career.

Wagland and Pieters come away as doubles All-Americans three times over, meeting each of the ITA’s criteria: entering the NCAA Doubles Championships as a top-eight seed, reaching the NCAA quarterfinals, and finishing ranked inside the top-10. The duo went 29-10 overall, including 15-5 at No. 1 doubles in dual matches, and beat 14 ranked pairs. The team of Brasseaux and Pasha posted a record of 19-9 and were 14-6 at No. 2 doubles.

As a team, Georgia wrapped up at No. 3 in the nation with its overall record of 26-5. The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the sixth time in the last eight seasons, doing so without a senior in the lineup and with three freshmen playing singles on a regular basis. Georgia captured both the SEC regular season and tournament championships and won at least 20 matches for the 10th straight year.
