NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Redshirt junior Ryan Lipman has been named an ITA All-American, it was announced Friday morning.

To earn ITA All-America honors in singles, a player must be either a top 16 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship, reach the round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship or finish in the top 20 of the final ITA Singles Rankings.

Lipman finished the season ranked No. 10 in the country in singles with an overall record of 31-11 and was one of 16 nationally-seeded players in this year’s NCAA Singles Championship.

He is the first Commodore to be named an ITA All-American since Chad Harris in 2004. Lipman is the fourth Vanderbilt men’s tennis player to be named an ITA All-American. Harris and Bobby Reynolds were two-time All-Americans, while Chris Groer was the first Commodore to take home the honors in 1996.

The Nashville native was knocked out of the NCAA Singles Championship in the second round. It was his second appearance in the singles tournament. He qualified his sophomore season as well, but did not compete due to injury.

The First Team All-SEC honoree went 20-6 in the dual season, including an 8-4 mark in the SEC. He was 8-6 versus ranked opponents, while playing in the No. 1 singles position the entire spring season.
