URBANA, Ill. - California's 26th-ranked team of Campbell Johnson and Christoffer Konigsfeldt lost to Auburn's sixth-ranked Daniel Cochran and Andreas Mies in Thursday's round of 32 at the NCAA Doubles Championship at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center. The Cal pair fell, 7-5, 6-1, to close the season for the Golden Bear men's tennis team.

The result also ended the Cal career of Konigsfeldt, a senior co-captain.

One day prior, Johnson - a junior ranked 60th in singles - lost in the NCAA Singles Championship round of 64 to Oklahoma's 58th-ranked Guillermo Alcorta, 6-2, 6-4, and Cal junior Ben McLachlan - ranked 38th in singles - lost to Ohio State's 12th-ranked Blaz Rola, 6-2, 7-6(4).

"It's not a good feeling when the season ends, but I have to say this team had an incredible year," Cal head coach Peter Wright said. "We had injuries and challenges throughout the season, but we rose to the challenge each time throughout the year. These guys gave it their all this year, and I'm so proud of how they competed this year. It's incredibly gratifying to see how hard these guys played together and how close they became as a team."
