CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - After twice earning the Capital One Academic All-District Award, Bruno Abdelnour's stellar GPA along with his contributions to Fighting Illini tennis have helped the senior reach the next step. CoSIDA just recently bestowed Second-Team Academic All-American honors to the Illinois senior.

Abdelnour becomes the fifth Illini men's tennis player to achieve the award and the first in eight years. He follows in the footsteps of Andrew Lobb ('87), Oliver Freelove ('99), Jakub Teply ('99) and Chris Martin ('03-'05).

Abdelnour accomplished a 3.96 GPA in Mechanical Engineering. Bruno was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, an NCAA Elite 89 Award winner, two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar award recipient, a two-time Illinois Outstanding Scholar-Athelete and a former ITA Scholar-Athlete as well.

On the court, Abdelnour wrapped his four year career in the Orange and Blue with 60 career singles and 31 career doubles victories.
