Nebraska associate head coach Hayden Perez was officially named the associate head coach at Texas Tech last week.

Perez, who has spent the past eight seasons on Coach Scott Jacobson's staff at Nebraska, helped the Huskers to five NCAA appearances including a Sweet Sixteen showing last season.

Perez assisted Nebraska to a final ITA ranking of No. 16 in both 2011-12 and 2012-13 as well as No. 6 mid-season during the spring 2013 campaign - the highest in school history. Perez helped in Nebraska's recruiting coordination while assisting with every aspect of the program, including day-to-day operations, coaching, scheduling, travel arrangements and the team's budget.

Perez earned the ITA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors three times at Nebraska in 2007, 2010, and 2012. During his eight years as a coach for the Huskers, the squad went a spectacular 152-58, including a Big Ten regular season title in 2012-13.

Perez developed three All-Americans and the 2013 NCAA Singles Finalist Mary Weatherholt and saw her receive the Big Ten Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year award two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013.

“Coach Perez has served Nebraska tremendously well over the course of the last 8 years," said Head Coach Scott Jacobson. "His commitment to our program and the welfare of the young lives within our program is what I am most grateful for. I am happy for him, his wife Gretchen, and their two beautiful children, Tanner and Tristen and wish them all the best in this new chapter of their lives.”
