Two Broncos advanced to the quarterfinals.

BOISE, Idaho - The Dar Walters Tennis Classic concluded Sunday afternoon at Boise State with the three Broncos participating going a combined 5-3 during the three day tournament. Brian Foley and Toby Mitchell led the Bronco trio by advancing into the quarterfinal round of the blue flight on Saturday.

Foley, a sophomore from Henderson, Nev., ran up against Cristobal Ramos from Idaho in the quarterfinal round falling in two sets 6-3, 7-5. On the weekend Foley improved his fall singles mark to 4-2 on the year through two tournaments.

Toby Mitchell who was competing in the his first event of the fall had a solid opening for the Broncos reaching the quarterfinals following two straight-set victories in the preceding rounds. The sophomore from Somerset, England, faced Idaho’s Jose Bendeck in Saturday’s quarterfinal round where the Vandal downed Mitchell 6-3, 6-3. The loss gave Mitchell a 2-1 recorded on the fall.

Abe Hewko and Toby Mitchell did play a consolation doubles match on Sunday against Idaho’s Matt Oddonetto and Adnrew Zedde defeating the Vandal duo 8-6.

Boise State men’s tennis schedule has the Broncos at the Battle on the Bay next weekend in San Francisco, Calif., Oct. 11-13, followed by the ITA Mountain Regional Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 16-20.
