CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini men's tennis team will dispatch three of its top players to the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships starting today. Jared Hiltzik earned the eighth seed in the main singles draw while the duo of Tim Kopinski and Ross Guignon were chosen as the four seed in the doubles draw. For the fourth straight year the tournament will be hosted by Columbia University with the action planned to transpire from November 7-10.

The singles draw consists of the top-32 players in the country, representing 21 different universities. Interesting to note, none of this year's participants have ever won at the Indoor Championships, but No. 17 Jared Hiltzik will look to do just that. Hiltzik will meet UCLA's Marcos Giron in first round action this afternoon. Hiltzik recently reached the quarterfinals in the ITA All-Americans main singles draw before dropping to UVA's Mitchell Frank.

With their No. 4 seed, Kopinski/Guignon were awarded a first round bye in the 20-team draw. The Illinois tandem most notably won the doubles consolation bracket at the ITA All-American Championships. Thus far in the 2013 season, the Illini duo has posted an 8-4 overall record. Fueled by their early exit in last year's ITA Indoor Championships, Kopinski and Guignon will strive to produce a lengthy run at this year's tournament when they start off with a matchup vs. California's Gregory Bayane and Chase Melton.
