TULSA, Okla. -- Senior Jarryd Chaplin and freshman Markus Kerner lost their doubles match by the slimmest of margins Tuesday in qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships.
Chaplin and Kerner lost 8-7 (12) in the first round of doubles qualifying to Binghamton's Ismael Dinia and Sidharta Hazarika. The Vols and Binghamton were among the handful of teams that did not get a bye to the second round of qualies.
In the afternoon, Chaplin played a singles consolation match, falling to Sem Verbeek of the University of the Pacific 6-1, 6-1.
Tennessee's participation at the All-American will pick back up Thursday for the first round of the main draw competition. Mikelis Libietis is the No. 1 seed in both singles and doubles with fellow junior Hunter Reese. Reese is also in the singles draw.
