FLUSHING, N.Y. – After falling in a tough three-set match in the first round of main draw play Thursday in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships, Mississippi State men’s tennis senior Malte Stropp has withdrawn from the remainder of play in the tournament due to injury.

Stropp, ranked 40th nationally, was scheduled to play in the first round of consolation against Oklahoma’s 44th-ranked Dane Webb Friday afternoon.

With the withdrawal, the fall season has come to a close for the Bulldogs. MSU will now turn its attention to the 2014 dual match season, which will begin on Saturday, Jan. 18, with a doubleheader at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre against Jackson State (11 a.m. CT) and Alabama State (4 p.m. CT).
