WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women’s tennis team earned its third straight NCAA Championships appearance as one of 32 teams to receive an at-large bid into the 64-team field. It is the seventh time in program history that the Boilermakers have qualified and the third consecutive under head coach Laura Glitz. Her 41st-ranked team with a 12-10 record will travel to Nashville, Tenn., to take on No. 20 Georgia Tech (13-9) in the first round on May 9. The site is hosted by 10th-ranked Vanderbilt, who will meet unranked Murray State, the fourth team at the site, in the first round.

“I am extremely proud of this group,” Glitz said. “We faced a lot of adversity this year with all of our injuries, but they really dug deep and play some great tennis at the Big Ten Tournament, which made all the difference in making the tournament. Now we need to get focused on our match against Georgia Tech.”

The first round matchup between Purdue and the Yellow Jackets, who will be making their 15th consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships, will be their first-ever meeting.

The Boilermakers are a combined 2-6 in six combined trips to the NCAA Championships, qualifying in 1996, 1998, 2003, 2006, 2012 and 2013. A year ago they edged No. 34 South Carolina, 4-3, in the first round, but were dealt a 4-0 setback by host and sixth-ranked Miami (Fla.) in the second round.

At-large selection criteria included win-loss record, head-to-head competition, results versus common opponents, strength of schedule and wins versus teams already selected at time of consideration.

The singles and doubles selections will be streamed at NCAA.com Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET.
