The February 17
th CTO/MDTA Division 1 Men’s Coaches Poll is out and as expected the NEW #1 is the National Team Indoor Champion Oklahoma Sooners. The John Roddick coached team improved to 10-0 on the year by knocking off 3 top 10 teams (USC, Baylor, North Carolina) in route to the program’s 1
st ever-National Championship. The Sooners won’t get much time to celebrate as they face a pair of top 15 opponents this weekend with a Friday trip to College Station to play #11 Texas A&M before hosting #10 North Carolina on Sunday.

USC (9-1) comes in at #2 this week after falling to Oklahoma 4-2 in the NTI Finals. The weekend in Chicago wasn’t a total loss for USC as they defeated a pair of Top 10 teams in Ohio State and Georgia both by a 4-1 score. Peter Smith’s Trojans have the next week and a half off and will be back in action on February 27
th as they host Stanford (Pac 12 Network) and then the next day they host Tulsa.
Baylor (6-2) rises up to #3 after going 2-1 in Chicago with a 4-3 win over Virginia and a 4-1 win over Duke before falling to eventual National Champion Oklahoma 4-2. Matt Knoll’s Bears return to action this weekend with home matches against Purdue (Friday) and UCLA (Sunday). The weekend after that Baylor hosts Virginia on March 1st.
Georgia (6-2) comes in at #4 after going 2-1 during the NTIs. Manny Diaz’s Bulldogs knocked off Columbia 4-3 and Illinois 4-2 before falling to eventual runner-up USC 4-1. The Bulldogs will host Furman this Friday and then they’ll open up play in the SEC the following weekend with road tilts against Florida and Auburn.
Virginia (7-1) drops down to #5 after going 2-1 during the NTIs. Brian Boland’s Cavaliers opened up the weekend with a 4-0 win over TCU before falling to Baylor 4-3 and then finished things off on Sunday with a 4-0 win over North Carolina. Virginia will be idle until March 1st when they visit Waco to play Baylor.
Illinois (8-2), Duke (11-1), Ohio State (10-3), Texas (9-1) and North Carolina (9-3) come in at 6-10. Texas A&M (2-1), UCLA (6-4), Columbia (3-2), California (7-2), and Ole Miss (5-2) are 11-15. TCU (5-3), Wake Forest (5-2), Notre Dame (6-1), Florida (5-2), and Vanderbilt (7-2) are 16-20. Mississippi State (7-2), Oklahoma State (7-2), Penn State (3-5), Tennessee (6-4), and Northwestern (6-4) round out the final 5 spots.
Also receiving votes but not garnering enough to make this week’s Top 25 are Memphis, South Carolina, South Florida, North Carolina State, and Harvard.
