Boise State's Butters and Heslin to Play for ITA Mountain Region Doubles Title

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (10-22-2016) - Boise State’s Kyle Butters and Jack Heslin will play for the 2016 ITA Mountain Region doubles championship Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. (Mountain) against Alex Gasson and Yannick James from the University of Denver for a berth into next month’s ITA Indoor National Championship Tournament at Flushing, N.Y. Gasson and James are the number two seed in the regional and are ranked 42nd nationally.

The Boise State sophomore tandem from New Zealand, seeded fifth, earned the chance at the regional title by dispatching New Mexico State’s eighth-seeded team of Luis Flores and Christofer Goncalves 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-2 in the semifinals. 

In other action on Saturday, freshman Ryland McDermott lost a tough contest with Weber State’s Kris Van Wyk 6-4, 7-6(3) in the consolation draw’s round of 32. McDermott was the lone Bronco remaining in singles play.
